Search Depth Options

To change search depth for a while is necessary for the computer to select a move and quality of its playing. The less search depth, the faster the computer thinks and the worse it plays. The more search depth is, the longer the computer chooses the move, but the better plays.

The forced search depth defines depth of viewing of the forced moves, look through after the basic search. The forced move considers any capture of an enemy piece or a check. The change of this parameter does not seriously influence on speed of search. However, if your setting for depth is too small depth, the program will make"strange" moves.

To change search depth

  1. In the menu Optionschoose the command Preferences.
  2. Select the tab Search.
  3. Select the text box with search depth or force search depth.
  4. Change the value in the given limits.
